The Curse of Blondie
I was vaguely aware that one of my favorite bands from the seventies, Blondie was playing again. But I had not figured they would be doing anything really noteworthy.
Fortunately I took a chance and bought a couple of their new CDs, and it turns out that The Curse of Blondie is really good. It contains several tracks which one may consider amongst their best ever. For example Background Melody, Magic, and Rules for Living, just wonderful songs.
I warmly recommend this album, and I think it's awesome that people who have been in the music business for thirty years can rise up and create something this fresh and strong.
------------
By the way, thank you to those people who have told me when a post or review of mine have spurred them to get a film/book/CD, it's good to get feedback.

Blondie - what's her age now? Might be in her fifties, I gather.
Remember their songs from the 70s, played in the ice rink.
Btw, you mentioned ABBA in one of your recent posts, also one of my favourites, and I went and bought 4 of their CDs. I found the included booklets containing the background story of the group very interesting, after so many years.
Blondie, the band, is 31.
The singer, Deborah Harry, is 62.
Here's a tip: It is faster to look up this type of information from Wikipedia than it is to type a question on Eolake's blog (let alone wait for someone to answer it).
Gawd, is she really 62.
I got the album after seeing her on an episode of Ab Fab. She must have been in her late fifties then, but she did not look it.
Many of the products featured on this site are over my budget (the expensive sports cars, for example, and the $10,000 cameras, not to mention the skull covered with diamonds). But I have purchased some products based on Eolake's recommendation or after a discussion on the comments page.
One of my recent purchases inspired by this blog (I think the actual post by Eolake was about cinematic techniques) was this film. And what an amazing film it is!
"Gawd, is she really 62."
That's nothing. Keith Richards is 65. :-)
Good to hear Russian Ark appealed to you. To my shame I have not yet seen it myself (the reviews were very mixed). But I will do now.
Feedback, then: I have one of your pictures hanging in my hall. :) It was one of the first things that went up in my new house a year ago.
Kewl! :)
The black and white one with the boat and water reflection. :) Still love it, first picture I see when I come in the door... do I need to take a picture? :-P
It was while watching Blondie on MTV in Lucerne Switzerland that I realized my girlfriend was "too young". Atomic started playing and I said "Oh, I haven't seen Bondie in a while", and she said "No it's Debbie Harry". I just gave here that wizened old man, over the rim of the glasses (specs) look of "oh the follies of youth".
Actually, now I think of it, it was more her arrogant way of saying it rather than my 3 year seniority that was the problem.
I keep thinking I saw Blondie at one the of the early BFD's at Shoreline Amphitheater, but maybe it was Chrissy Hind and the Pretenders.
Either way good music...
"She must have been in her late fifties then, but she did not look it."
Sharon Stone also looks stunningly younger than her age. Good for both of them. (I mean Sharon and Blondie, not Sharon and her age!)

Then clearly you haven't seen the price tag on the diamond I have INSIDE my skull.
It's unique, because not only is it huge, it's also a modest diamond. Never brags. ;-)

A picture of a picture?
Too late: it's already been done before! :-)
