Me and Baretti

I hate mankind, for I think myself one of the best of them, and I know how bad I am.
-- Joseph Baretti

I love mankind, for I think myself one of the worst of them, and I know how great I am.

That doesn't make a lot of sense old boy - not to me anyway. Given that mankind is the only thing to compare yourself to, how can you say you know your greatness? After all, your comparison to mankind was what led you to the comclusion that you were the worst of them... so how did you determine your greatness?

Just on seeing my inner greatness. :)

It's just a joke anyway. I am mainly making fun of the silly statement by this Baretti guy.

That second quote really sucked!

Yeah, it sucked chlorine ice-cream through a snorkel. 40 fathoms deep underneath the North Pole soggy ice cap.

BTW, when was Joseph Baretti's first quote? I must have missed it.

In fact Eo, I'd love to see you knighted, not an impossible idea for you seem to be a (permanent) UK resident.
I appreciate very much your idea of the DOMAI website, and all your other websites and two blogs (!) are remarkable and an enrichment for the quality of our lives (well, for mine at least).
Also you are an entrepreneur with a feeling for the value of money, but who won't reject a plea by some customers to get access to your paid-for website at reduced rates temporarily.
Thank you very much, and keep on your good work.

Thank you very much. Very kind of you.

What, nobody at all likes MY quote? :-(

Yes, Sir Eolake is very prolific in his communications. Too prolific, perhaps. For I can not keep up! It seems every stone I turn there's a new blog or mailing list by the stobblemeister. Just now I note there's a new blog on ACIM, which I haven't even explored.

Google gives 22,300 hits for "eolake stobblehouse". Could this be part reason for the U.S. goverments' want of regulating the internets?

ROTFL.

I'm really living a very lazy life. I spend most of my time reading or watching movies.

Funny how this damn little postcard page is still after eight years high ranking on Google. Sometimes google's rankings are inscrutable.

I should warn, the ACIM blog is really meant for people who are familiar with ACIM. Others may be confused by its assumed familiarity with the terms and concepts.

TTL,
I wonder hom many hits he'd get with a searh engine named Oogle? What with the naked beauties and all.

I think it's all ACIM's fault anyway. According to my calculations, enlightened Eolake has already reached Oneness with 22,300 of Earth's denizens... and counting.
If you've left your name on his blog, chances are you're already him. "Resistance is futile. Awaken from the dream."

Damn little postcard page indeed. Will its popularity never come down? Show-off!

Funny typo there, "searh engine". It could be a searing-hot search engine. ;-)

Like this very authentic parody.

Eolake Stobblehouse said...

How is that Booble site a parody? Seems real to me.

Pascal [P-04referent] said...

Oh, it's very real. An authentic parody, as I said.

They made a humorous nod to the Google logo, and later had to defend it in court.
In the early days, the home page looked much more Goggle-ish. I guess they reached a gentlemen's agreement.

Eolake Stobblehouse said...

Oh, Google. I didn't even see that.

And yet, you claim to have a dirty old mind? Yeah, sure... ;-)
