Here is a challenge to any TV producers who might be reading this:
Make a TV show, a light and silly comedy, with at least five really cute girls, who are in the buff 90% of the time, or at least topless. Man, would that lift the spirits of everybody.
There does not have to be any sex, actually I think I'd prefer it if there wasn't.
Of course it'd get some people up in arms, but I think it could be like the case with South Park and the word "shit"... they were not allowed to use it, until they suggested that they use it over 200 times in one show. And that was OK. Maybe if you set a comedy show in a nudist colony...
Update: Clearly this would have to be on cable, by HBO or something. The idea is not at all so farfetched: major cable shows like Sex And The City, The Sopranos, and Desperate Housewives have all had many instances of full nudity and toplessness. Not to mention The L-Word.
Also: I don't mind if it has some men too, to answer a challenge to the idea.
Second update: I got the question:
"Why just stop at nudity? Wouldn't it be even more beautiful to watch these gorgeous bodies making love?"
As nudists knows, the connection between nudity and sex is artificial, created by the need for protection against weather and thus seeing nude people only when sex is in the air. In places where nudity is common there is no such link.
If I want porn it is not hard to find. That's not what I'm talking about.

But if a momentary flash of one nipple
caused such a havoc in 2004's "nipplegate", how do you suppose Ameerika could handle five girls who are in the buff 90% of the time?
Clearly this would have to be on cable, by HBO or something.
Also their biggest problems seemed to have been the surprise and that it was in family viewing hours.
A nipple's a nipple. What's the difference between that and a nose?
Why only girls? :) And what does being nude or not add to the show?
It would NEVER work in America. Perhaps Germany, and such, but never our clean society.
Write "nudist RESORT" instead of "nudist colony", and people who are into that lifestyle will likely be happy to volunteer.
The word resort sounds to them caricatural, stereotyped. Same with "nudist camp".
From what I understand, nudists/naturists have become a bit sensitive to some rehashed ironic terms.
I like your idea a lot. Not out of kinkiness, but because once people get used to it as something common, when they see it all the time, their prude education would get de-sensitized. Especially if, like you suggest, there is deliberately no sex. Like DOMAI.
The equation "nudity = sex" is a sneaky amalgam that needs to be dismantled. Admittedly, it does originate from the biblical euphemism for sex, "uncovering one's nudity". But IT'S JUST AN EXPRESSION, people. Just like "Woman, what's with you and with me?" [John 2:4, original wording] simply means "Why are you getting involved in my business?"(Because Mary was asking her son for an early miracle in Cana, before his time had come to reveal himself.)
How many arbitrary dogmas have simiarly arisen in Western religion, from simple cultural incomprehension? Many, I'll wager.
I like to follow this web-comic [http://www.webcomicsnation.com/thebarepit/thebarepit/series.php], with near-constant nudity, and zero sex. It really feels good. Plus, it's very well done.
[Previous site, with complete stories in archives.]
I'd be interested to hear the opinion of people after they read some of this stuff. It's truly in the spirit of innocent nudism.
I even know of catholic nudist resorts, with priests and all, and fully family-oriented. It's very well-behaved atmosphere.
well eolake, there better be some handsome, buff guys in there.
The sex part doesn't matter, but let's see some broad shoulders, flat stomachs, muscly arms and handsome faces. Sound fair?
We focus on the really cute girls, topless, whatever, but what do the girls want?
Hannah,
Pascal and Signalroom answers some of it.
Also it's the same reason Domai is a labor of love: A beautiful nude cheers me up, it gives me energy.
I'd have no problem at all with some beefcake too.
I whole heartedly agree that it would be very refreshing to see some beautiful nudes (both male and female) on television (or living with me). But the question I have is why just stop at nudity? Wouldn't it be even more beautiful to watch these gorgeous bodies making love? And for that matter, there are cable channels that do broadcast that kind of material. And if your not into watching the male and female genital areas co-interact (which I don't understand why anybody wouldn't be, as I believe that it is one of the most beautiful things in the world to see) then there is always soft porn which can also be viewed on some pay-for cable channels. Which is really nothing more than naked bodies.
"why just stop at nudity?"
Why continue? And continue to what? As nudists knows, the connection between nudity and sex is artificial, created by the need for protection against weather and thus seeing nude people only when sex is in the air. In places where nudity is common there is no such link.
But the question I have is why just stop at nudity?
Good point. I guess some things may take away the nudity thing. What I mean is that if they show naked people going about their routines then they end up having sex it depletes the illusion that nudity is normal.
If you want to see people having sex that's easy, rent a porn DVD or get the Sinclair Institute DVDS.
Most people recognize that nudity automatically means having sex. Which in essense makes sense in many cultures. Also seeing naked people arouses many too.
In my case I like to view beautiful women in the nude because they ARE NUDE and beautiful to see. I don't need to have sex with them to enjoy my canvas (although on occasion I have.)
The equation "nudity = sex" is a sneaky amalgam that needs to be dismantled. Admittedly, it does originate from the biblical euphemism for sex, "uncovering one's nudity".
That was and still is what most born-again believers recognize because the Lord said that whosoever looketh upon a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
God said it, I read it.
The equation "nudity = sex" is a sneaky amalgam that needs to be dismantled.
that will never be dismantled no matter what because the spirit may be strong but the flesh is weak.
Why not produce one yourself Eolake? You would be in a pretty good position to make a DOMAI inspired TV show happen.
Sounds like a wonderful idea, actually...
Thanks, guys.
It is not impossible, but producting a good video, much less a TV show, is not a left-handed job.
What I mean is that if they show naked people going about their routines then they end up having sex it depletes the illusion that nudity is normal.
Indeed Voyeur,
Very wise insight. I guess you can't have your cake and eat it to as they say. As far as programming goes, Canada has a naked news telecast, I've never seen it just heard about it.
At any rate, people take risks by joining nudist colonies and such because of the deviants that are among the population.
Perhaps an adult show would be more in line? I could not imagine having innocent children around witnessing such things. I think it would scar them for life.
that will never be dismantled no matter what because the spirit may be strong but the flesh is weak.
I agree Nildar with your statement. Trying to dismantle something this large would be impossible I would I think. Unless the entire world would change together as a whole. I don't forecast seeing that, do you?
Hi, there are no nudist colonies, they are clubs or resorts or camps.
Having a group of attractive girls going around nude or topless without explicit sexual conduct sounds like a made to order film at Domai. I think Laurie Jeffery has a film of a group of girls romping in the surf.
In real life, at a real nudist club, it would be hard to find 5 attractive young women, in the sense of models. Real young women are skinny or heavy or just normal, not model quality attractive. There have been a number of movies made about nudism and need a story line of some kind.
Just nude romping would make short videos such as are seen at met-art and fembeauty and others which have no explicit content.
A real tv show on cable, about a group of nudist girls, with plot lines and so forth would be interesting. It could be set in one of the locations in Europe where nudism is common. Maybe Eolake and Laurie Jeffery can make some short films while developing a pilot show for cable? And while you are casting be sure to include a number of beautiful males. Playing vollyball and swimming around and doing all the things which might be done at a nudist resort or venue.
I have made a video at a real nudist club, and it is not erotic to see ordinary people doing ordinary things without clothing.
Nudism does separate nudity from sexuality. To pick 5 very attractive young women would add back a lot of the sexuality factor.
What I call the yummy factor: the urge to touch. Pictures of such young women are found at domai and fembeauty and metart and others.
Some thoughts from Carter in Kansas City
"In real life, at a real nudist club, it would be hard to find 5 attractive young women"
Doubtlessly. But people don't generally look like they do on The L-Word either, but we indulge in the fantasy. :)
Ooh, The L-Word, *there* is a show with lots of nudity and pretty women.

Hunh? You've had sex with your canvas? There's a new kink for my catalogue! ;-)
"if they show naked people going about their routines then they end up having sex"
Never been to a nudist place then, hunh? Constant nudity, for everybody, together in public, but if you wanna do "the nasty" with your legally-wedded missus, you are kindly (yet firmly) required to find some perfectly private place!
I suggest you enrich your general culture on the International Naturists Association official website. No orgies there, mister! I challenge you to spot in their many random photos one single of those naked guys sporting an erection.
"Nudity implies sex" is an artificial social construct. Very strong simply because it's centuries-old. It feels so "normal" because it is greatly widespread today, and therefore has become a "norm", stricto sensu. But a very un-natural norm.
Genuine naturist establishments are family-oriented places, and they have shown to be beneficial for young people's psyche. There's a markedly smaller number of STDs and unplanned teen pregnancies in children who have lived in a naturist setting, it's been clearly demonstrated by all statistic studies. So much for "nudity leads to sex"! It'd be far more accurate to say that "unsatisfied curiosity and lacking information lead to more sex, and more reckless".
I especially recommend the following two articles to anybody sincerely wondering about nudity, christiannism, and sexuality:
* http://clothesfree.com/nudityandthebible.html
* http://clothesfree.com/pregnancy.html
Besides... Just like eating, sex is a natural drive put in us by God. In itself, it it normal and beautiful. Provided we don't mis-use it in our typical human clumsy manner. Eating is fine, gluttony is a sin. Making love is fine, when you are sincere and acting responsible. Knocking over your first high-school date and deserting her when she's pregnant or has caught your AIDS is a sin. It's simply basic moral sense, really.
I like sex. I also like beautiful nudity such as I see on Domai. And I love how the two do NOT have to be joined at the hip (of all places!!!).

Actually, that was said by Jesus, somewhere in the Gospel. Let's stick to the facts.
And this totally ignores the well-established psychological fact of sexual fantasies, which are a part of the normal human sexual drive. A built-in feature, so to speak. Everybody has fantasies. And the amalgam between having them and actual lust, meaning coveting a specific person and acting to make it happen, is yet another social mis-conception that has neuroses spreading like wildfire. To the exclusive benefit of the Clergy's ideological tyranny...

"A left-handed job"? Is this another of those secret guy euphemisms for you-know-what? ;-)
Incidentally, those "left-handed jobs", or whatever style you prefer, are nowhere explicitly prohibited in either the Bible or the Gospel. Neither are they for women.
Interesting detail to notice, isn't it?
*GOD* never said "there is a certain thing which is okay to do with somebody else -under My guidelines-, but is an abomination to do by yourself". I don't think there is any such thing.

Naturists are extremely vigilant regarding the people they accept into their communities. A well-managed nudist resort is much safer than a common urban street, thanks to basic member screening. They DON'T fancy one bit such misconceptions about them spreading around.
Document yourself about christian nudism and then come back to me, Thomas, okay?
"There have been a number of movies made about nudism and need a story line of some kind."
I've seen such a movie, a French production, titled "Les Textiles". (Textile is lingo for a non-nudist.) It was extremely promising initially, but then the scenario suddenly went down the slippery slope of voyeurism, exhibitionism and group sex. All the way down. Quite a shame.
So much for breaking clichés! ):-P
There are, of course, "nudist" places that are just an alibi for adult sex clubs. This is why the term "naturist" is more popular among the initiated.
Among which I am not. Inconceivable in a place like Lebanon. But I like to be informed.
I've been exposed to a lot of nudity in a medical context. Of all types. And take my word for it, it is anything but titillating. Fortunately for me, it is not sense-numbing either. :-) It's just a specific context. You don't have horny thoughts when you're focusing on placing a urinary catheter to a patient in pain, and careful to follow sterile procedure. Or when a slender young woman is lying on the operation table, unconscious and without a thread on, and you're getting ready to operate her. Never once have I heard a single lewd comment during work time. In spite of the fact that the Lebanese traditionally are hugely obsessed by sex. But this remains in the private sphere, when we're taking a break and chatting.
"it is not erotic to see ordinary people doing ordinary things without clothing."
Spot-on. As they so aptly say, "when everybody is naked, nobody is naked". And it feels immensely liberating from one's social arbitrary inhibitions! As well as from the nudity/sex amalgam.
Thank you, Carter, for bringing us the testimony of an authentic naturist. Something beyond my possibilities right now. Unless I enjoy getting thrown in a middle-eastern jail!

... God?... Is that you?...
Finally, you speak to me!
And on a blog, too. Very modern.
(Bowing down all the way to the floor.)
Oh, BTW, I and my father are one too. Along with my mother, brothers, sisters...
We're a family. A unique bio-social unit of love. More than the sum of the parts.
Most people say that the usage of nudity other than sex would simply indicate that the people producin the movie are suffering pystchiatric and pyschological problems and they add on that its written in psychological sciences books. Well, all I can say is, such people are prudes. Some say that its of no good use and changing their minds would be a sure 'no, no' for them. People have used in my religious tales to prove that nudity esp. of a woman is and barbaric and evil act. Its written in Christian and Hindu holy books. Almost 99.1% of the population of the civilised world call nudity to be uncivilised. Anurag
I doubt it's quite so high. Probably still a majority though. But dropping.
However, a handful number of Hindus have changed their mindsets on nudity of beautiful women. My mom herself finds nothing much good out of it. I don't understand this. In Bhagavad Gita ( One of the Hindu Holy Book), a good, beautiful queen by the name Draupadi, was being stripped naked in the general assembly however, b y her countless prayers to Lord Vishnu ( our main God in Hinduism), he provided with amples of robes to her. Well, I understand that a as a good father God provided her with a robe due to her countless devotions to Lord Vishnu, a famous war began by the name ' Mahabharatta.' In our Hindu texts, its concluded several times that a female's nudity made public is the greatest sin. Their reasons are, all females like a males sister or mother other than his life partner, therefore, since no person want his mother or sister to be seen publicly nude, its a great sin. There is also a saying universally that clothes bring dignity to a woman. Therefore, in Hindu texts you and I are devils. LOL!
I am very sorry for my fragmented English sentences.
