Ligth/love
Apropos our talk about light and love, Ian sent me this quote:
The sun never says to the earth: 'You owe me.' Look what happens with a love like that, it lights the whole world. -Hafiz

Neither does God say to his servants, "I made the sun to keep you warm and to see, you owe me." Nor does he say, "I died for your sins and you owe me." (But repenting and being thankful are the best things to do in return) :) Praise the Lord Jesus!

We think alike, man. See my latest "John Farr" post for over-abundant details.
It seems the clerics don't usually share this philosophy of ours, huh? "Obey, attend and give. You owe it to the Lord... and especially to His servants!"
I think two of the most beautiful things human beings can say in this life are I love you and thank you. Even if I'm all by myself, sometimes I say these things silently I love to feel the reverberation.
Which is only truly valuable if it comes from the heart. You can't command love. Even asking for it is a mistake, a misconception. The real deal just... "is", you know?
I help caring for a lovely baby girl almost every day. As soon as she sees me, she beams. (And I melt.) I simply know I could never love her as much as SHE loves me, because a baby feels with unique absoluteness. We just both do our best shining and loving, without splitting hairs or keeping any tabs. :-)))
As you say, Laurie, it CAN be this simple. The silent reverberation is just as intense.
Neither does God say to his servants, "I made the sun to keep you warm and to see, you owe me." Nor does he say, "I died for your sins and you owe me."
Perhaps I may have made an error here. As a born-again child of God, I do owe the Lord so much but all he wants is my love and devotion to him and living by his words. This is directed to my Lord, "Jesus if I made an injust statement, please forgive me."

Unconditional love. Isn't it something? But as a parent myself, I claim the same spirit.

"The Vintage Man"
The
Difference
Between a good artist
And a great one
Is
The novice
Will often lay down his tool
Or both
Then pick up an invisible club
On the mind's table
And helplessly smash the easel and
Jade.
Whereas the vintage man
No longer hurts himself or anyone
And keeps on
Sculpting
Light.
