Meryl Streep

Following up on my recent post about how awards like the Oscars are taken way too seriously by most, I found it refreshing to read about how Meryl Streep, after receiving her first Oscar, actually forgot it in a rest room! :)

She's a pleasure, isn't she? She clearly cares deeply about the art, and not much about all the hoopla.

Her films tend to be too "human drama" for me to be her central target audience, but Postcards From The Edge is one of my top-five favorite films ever. It is just really, really, really funny in a very clever and understated way. Warmly recommended.

She's a very talented actress.
Last night I took my sons to watch "Rocky Balboa." I was extremely moved by this motion picture.
He redeemed himself (Stallone) with this last chapter.(He had received bad reviews on Rocky 5.)
The flashbacks he used in this new movie are incredible and the music score way beyond average!
Even the concept was realistic. I won't give it away (unless you tip me a twenty lol) but it's worth seeing.
Stallone has proven once again that "Life is more than money." It's about love, friendship, devotion, respect, God, and character.
I loved it so much I watched it twice in the theater.

It is funny, because I've just been thinking about "what happened to Stalone and all those guys?" How do you lose such a power position?

Maybe I'll see this. Stalone is a good actor, which he proved in that film where he's a cop who is deaf in one ear.
Only I dislike fight movies, so.

I really enjoyed her latest, the Devil Wears Prada. She carried the role so well and did the many transformations with grace.

Plus she's really pretty in a very classy way.

It clearly shows in her eyes that Merry Meryl is no Jayne Mansfield. :-)

Last night I took my sons to watch "Rocky Balboa."
I didn't know Meryl Streep had played in THAT movie! ;-)

I never understood the harsh reviews that "Stop or my Mom will shoot" received. The movie was cute, funny, my sweet grandma *loved* the mother's character, and Stallone acted quite convincingly to my eye. Same thing could be said about "Kindergarten cop". If these actors feel confident enough to play roles opposite to the musclehead cliché, it's all to their honor!

Self-derision is such a precious and rare quality. And one of the pathways to serenity...

Yeah, I love the Rocky movies, and I think this new one is as good as any of them.

Please do Eolake. This film had me in tears. It's so much more than boxing. It goes into a much deeper level about the soul and character of Rocky not only as a boxer but about "the heart."
It's about relationships past and present........about enduring hardships and the ultimate victory one can obtain through faith, hope, courage and the greatest of these..."LOVE."
Personally I feel he should be nominated for an oscar for his performance. And I don't hand out Oscar nods on but a few. (I'm no critic but trust me, this one is a CLASSIC FINALE!
In the movie one of the most memorable things were told, "The human heart is the last thing to age."
It's so true too! I highly recommend it. I'm planning on seeing it for the third time this week.

The Rocky series is my least liked part of Stallone's work, but you've gotten me convinced to give this one a chance.

Say, I knew Satan was "The Great Hermaphrodite", but does he really wear Prada? I always pictured "Him" in drag, à la Powerpuff Girls...

I hope you do see it Pascal. It's honestly the BEST film in recent years I've ever seen. It's as realistic as life itself. Full of heart, love lost, deep faith that sparkles like sunlight.
I can't wait for it to come out on DVD!
Man, it's so moving. Trust me.
