Beautiful girls
So I've finished re-watching Beautiful girls, and once again it strikes me how many men lose all sense in the presence of hint of kitty. So many times a man has a beautiful, competent, and faithful wife, and yet he will readily cheat on her with some random uninteresting slut he meets somewhere. In other words, he'll readily risk everything for a night of drunken, shameful, fumbling sex. It just doesn't make sense. Sex is good, but it's not *that* good. Have some dignity. Have some sense.
Witt music
Turns out that Alicia Will is also a bril musician. (I knew she is a top-shelf pianist.)
A cover of You Can Call Me Al? Ballsy. And the version is quite avant garde, an acquired taste, but I'm starting to like it.

Dancing girl video
I'm sure that somehow somewhere there's an intellectual reason for me to post this video, but the blood has drained from my head at the moment.
... Dang, she's not alone...
Makes me feel 15 again.

Alicia Witt
I was just reminded of Alicia Witt, sadly under-used actress. O sigh.
How anybody can dislike redheads is beyond me.

(I wonder about the amount of attention she's getting if and when she's walking 'bout town in a tee like that!)
"Placebos Are Getting More Effective"
Placebos Are Getting More Effective. Drugmakers Are Desperate to Know Why. Article.
That's an interesting sentence: "Placebos Are Getting More Effective". That must mean people are getting better at autosuggestion? Cuz by definition a placebo has no effect of its own.

My Strange Addiction
It makes me wonder if I have a problem, just 'cuz I own like fifteen computer bags and cases.
"People say I have a problem, I don't think I have a problem at all."
Actually I just got word that my new one just shipped:
I just hadda have it, that's bootiful. Handmade too.

Interview: William Gibson on Zero History
William Gibson on Zero History, audio interview.
I'm re-reading Zero History, I think it's one of Gibson's good ones (though in my opinion most of his are really good).
Also the interviewer Nora Young has a really nice voice.

Here's a video with her. She's a beautiful woman, although she oughtta learn that a video camera very close to the face is not flattering (due to exaggerated perspective), she could use a mirror instead if she has to hold the camera herself.

Safe as houses
An extra-safe house, for those living in countries where revolutions are a national pastime.
I just hope they've thought about air-supply and food storage.
Inside though it seems nice and modern.

Green Lantern trailer
I didn't see a Green Lantern movie coming. But now it is. So maybe an Aquaman movie wasn't so far-fetched after all. After that... Krypto the super-dog? Sparkie the super-cat?
That being said, there are many good options still... Teen Titans. Wall to wall totty. Doom Patrol, Grant Morrison-inspired, wall to wall weirdness. Preacher... wall to wall psycho-violence.
And that's without even looking at the Marvel Universe. I've always been eagerly waiting for that Dazzler movie.

A grey alien filmed?
Here's a video allegedly of a grey alien from half a century ago. I think if it's a fake, it's surprisingly well done, the movement of the head, the muscles and so on, would be very hard to do.
Nobody has given me any strong reasons to believe in aliens, but nobody has either given me strong reasons to believe that we are alone in the whole huge universe, it just seems ludicrous.
As to why we are not visited much... well, you know those really bad neighborhoods in really bad cities where nobody from outside comes, not even the police, because everybody has guns and are on drugs and suspects everybody? Well, think about that in a galactic context. If there are civilized worlds in the galaxy, who would select to come here?

A good years for movies about robots
Recently watched Transformers II. Mostly for the visuals, for the story was kinda weak, not to say stupid. But funny enough, at least judging from the trailer, Transformers III may be more interesting. At least visually. T II was really more of desert war movie. Of course it's much easier to make a good trailer than a good movie so who knows.
And it seems they've gotten a new fox for the third one. I hope she has a bit more to do than Fox in the second one, she had only two jobs: running in tight jeans and trying to get her bf to say "I love you".

TV time
I just read that typical TV usage in the Western world (well, US at least) is six hour a day. Holy moly. Six hours! Average! Maybe it's no wonder that people brains are totally fried. I mean, the blinking, screaming ads alone would do that in much less time.
RIP Lin Baden
Hurrah, the enemy is dead. I guess our problems are over. Yes? Yes? Surely?
We still had problems after they captured Hussein, so that obviously had to be Laden's fault. So *now* everything will be all right. And to think some people say war doesn't solve anything.
If there still turn out to be any problems now, all we have to do is find the Bad Guy somewhere in the world, and wage war against that country for years until we kill him. And so on. It can't fail, there can only be, what, 200 countries in the world...

Tuesday quotes
If you want to be respected, you must respect yourself.
-- Spanish Proverb
To resist the frigidity of old age one must combine the body, the mind and the heart - and to keep them in parallel vigor one must exercise, study and love.
-- Karl von Bonstetten
Real joy comes not from ease or riches or from the praise of men, but from doing something worthwhile.
-- Sir Wilfred Grenfell
One's destination is never a place but rather a new way of looking at things.

Zzzzexy robots
This is Marvel's new vision of Vision, one of the Avengers, this time a female robot.
I've had a thing for sexy robots since that day in the late seventies when I saw an issue of Heavy Metal in a window, showing the famous metal ladies of that Japanese airbrush artist Whazname Forgetsiko.
Ah, here we go, I think this is the one, Hajime Sorayama.

Cosmic smile
The essence of life is the smile of round female bottoms, under the shadow of cosmic boredom. ~Guy de Maupassant
