iPad 3G on the loose

So the iPad 3G is now released in the US. That's the one which can use the cell phone net.

Still, I'd consider getting the regular one, and a Mifi device. One more thing struck me about the Mifi device: It can work as a back-up Net connection also. This can be a life-saver in mission-critical situations. A solution which would work even if the power goes, if you have your laptop charged.
(Remember my note: if you've had your laptop continually plugged in for months, the battery may be empty. It may even be dead.)

Batteries thrive on use and recharge cycles. Just as in a car.

Lithium Ion or NiMH batteries are known for keeping a charge longer than most battery technology, but still, using them and recharging them on a regular basis keeps the cells active and prevents reversal.

Anybody who uses such technology knows that. Keeping a battery constantly plugged in without a load on it does nothing. The charge controller tells the system not to charge, because the correct voltages and currents are detected.

If there's no load, the system will never detect that there's a need to charge.

SIMPLY - if you never go into your breadbox and the neighbour has been eating your bread without your knowledge, you'll never know that you're absolutely OUT of bread and need to get more.
