On Amazon.com, I've found it useful to read the reviews that give the lowest scores. If their criticisms are based on something more solid than personal taste, they can point out the product's weaknesses and provide useful guidance.

Yes. I find ratings useful, when they are accompanied by *reviews*.
ReplyDeleteAn average of three, 3.5 stars means a boring movie if the ratings are concentrated in the middle, and an unusual one if they are polarized.
