If you like poles and wires clumped together in an abstract pattern, it might be considered a good picture...But it's not my cup of tea...I definitely like the top one the best. It has more contrast... Now...tell me what's this is all about.
Just a snap that I didn't like at first, but on third view, and accidentally viewed cropped, I started liking it. So I decided to make a little survey.
I also prefer the top image due to the sharper contrast. The bottom one is too washed out. I also am not particularly enamored with the original colored image either.
The top one is most appealing. The original has an overabundance of color. It almost hurts to look at it. The second one is washed out into pure b/w. The top one has a hint of color to it. The subject is irrelevant, as you say, but it's not a bad subject. The concept of "tangled" is there, but with some "order" to it, with the straight supports. It represents modern life. (Well, I was kind of being silly on that last statement.)
I find pure b/w images to be most attractive to people when they are either richly textured, or contain a hint of color (either literally, or implied).
Ah, rotary airers. We had our so we could pull out the clothes line and stick the SwingBall in. Dense, dried okay and needed ironing, though saved on the drier.
First one because the second was too blue in colour. The first one had a metallic cast to it on my monitor.
It's only good to me because it was a taste of a country I used to live in.
This looks like an ordinary electrical pole in Lebanon with all the illegal wires on it. Except much, much simpler. Of course.
Also, OUR clumps of wires on poles have a lot more colors to them.

As for the artistic interest... I'm sorry, but that's like showing photos of the ocean to a fish. I'm just too used to the sight. Still, the grayscale ones do have some weird cyberpunk/neuromancer thing to them.
The top one. The second one feels like I'm watching a cinema version anamorphed on my 4/3 TV screen and stretched vertically. Even though they're the same framing and size! Go figure.
I never was any good at 'splaining "why I like it/her"...

ReplyDeleteIt doesn't have a object that pulls the viewers attention to it. You eye just wanders around the image but never finds much.

Unusual they are, true.

I think it's an interesting picture. Funny: I liked the upper one better when viewing the post, but I prefer the lower B&W one when I did the click.

Your solution might be to blow this picture up to 4 x 5 meters in size; that'll get you the 'wow' effect you seek.
But, sadly, it's out-takes like this that have been getting published lately.
There's your total solution:
Enlarge it like crazy.
Submit it to a stock agency.
Or an 'art' gallery.
To answer your original question, no, I do not think it's 'good' in any way at all.
