Flaws in presidents

ABC clip of women discussing flaws in presidents. (I think you'll get a link on the right side. Though these sites never make it easy to link to a specific video.)
I still can't get over how many people seem to consider it as serious a "flaw" to cheat on your wife as it is to start an unprovoked war. What I didn't really realize for a long time was that many, many people get really upset about what Clinton did with Monica. I couldn't care less, so I thought it was just a political attack.

They don't care what he did, they care that he lied about it.

  2. I really don't think so. Politicians are caught lying all the time. But many people seem to find sex to be the most heinous crime there is.

  3. Well see it's a lie about sex, that's what seems to make it different for Americans. He lied to them about having an affair, and this is somehow different than lying about someone having WMDs when they didn't.

    Bull, I agree with Eolake.

It's all a matter of what can fit in their heads: wars are just too big, and they happen in some far, far away place (and thus probably imaginary, since its not in the US). While the issue of a hubby cheating on his wife is something they have to deal with, something they can relate to.

I'd even add that the reason Hillary is not getting support from American women is because she forgave him. They wouldn't have.

The strange thing is, Bush doesn't have all that much to do with the mindless killing that has been going on in Iraq.

First of all, Bush hasn't (probably) killed a single person in his life. It is the troops stationed in Iraq who are the serial killers and rapists. They are all volunteers. They pull the trigger.

Secondly, the war is funded entirely from debt, the creditors being China and Japan. China alone could stop the war tomorrow if they wanted to. But they don't want to, even though they know full well that U.S. will probably never pay its loans back. Strange, isn't it?

In all this, Bush is just an idiot poster boy. You can say that he conned the nation, but all that is in the open now. Everyone knows he lied left and right -- Bush's approval is around 19%. And yet the aggression in Iraq continues.

    Stupidity is definitely the reason.

  7. That's a good point. It's comfortable to blame Bush, but the fact remains that one man can't make a hundred million people do anything.

  8. A hundred million?

  10. That may have carried more weight if you hadn't used you're instead of your.

You're the expert on stupidity. I think probably the Grand Wizard.

  12. I can't say our President in Lebanon has any flaws. Or qualities, for that matter.
Perhaps it helps that we've been without a President for months...

Now, if we could also end up without any Ministers and Deputies, maybe this country would end up doing just fine!
Okay, except for the thousands of moronic supporters of political figures, that is. But without a gargoyle face to cheer for, they'd be just hartless hinds.

The whole world would probably do great if Politics and politicians were suddenly abolished.
But... who will, who could, take such a decision? Except... politicians?!?
    Talk about a Catch 22. :-(

Uh... who are you talking to? I can't find any comment made by someone named "Bull".
