About commening on the art

Somebody told me that they hesitate to comment on my photos because they think they know too little about photography and art, and was not sure if I wanted technical comments or what.

You don't have to know anything. I am pretty "eddicated" and experienced in it, and I really don't care to hear "if you moved the lamp post more to the left you'd get an L-composition" or whatever. I know all that stuff. What I want to hear is what it does for you. Just "it's pretty, I have it on my desktop now", or "it feels nice, reminds me of my grandmother's garden" is helpful. Anything deeper is welcome, but not at all necessary.

I understand what you're saying Eolake but in all honesty on your last set of woods photos I commented that I liked the photos during the daylight hours but it's at night the forest thing bothers me.
You never questioned me on why the forest at night bothered me. But your photos brought up some childhood memories that did induce some feelings in me.
Had you even asked I would have briefly explained but you passed me by. I know I am not a famous man such as yourself or a talented photographer and I don't run a successful home cyber bisiness but I still count as a lover of modern art and nude photography.
So when you say you want to know what your photos do for people and they comment and yet you don't respond then many people will not give you an in-depth answer.
    Please keep this in mind.

  2. Hello terry, I think when you're saying "I understand what you're saying Eolake but in all honesty on your last set of woods photos I commented that I liked the photos during the daylight hours but it's at night the forest thing bothers me."
    you're doing Eolake injustice.
Even I am scared to death when I'm in the woods in the dark, the more so when some deer or boars are roaming in the distance.
So me too, I couldn't see from your comment that this particular passage was intended by you to insinuate further commenting.
I've just returned from DOMAI newsletter section. There you have more than enough proof what good has been done to people worldwide by de-mystifying nakedness and related subjects by DOMAI's website and also by this blog.

Life is indeed business, but it's up to us to make the most of it. I couldn't/wouldn't want to do without business.

  3. eolake, thanks, not having to be technical will make it easier for me to simply say how the picture affects me.

terry, did you have an experience in the forest at night as a child?
I imagine a memory like that goes deep.

    Thank you for asking Laurie,
I did have a horrible experience in the woods as a child.
My mother had left me and my older brother to play at the park while she went to the store.
The sun went down and we both got scared because this strange man with this growling dog approached us....he said something I can't repeat on this blog....God have mercy....I can't even finish my words....but fortunately Mom returned before we were abducted.
In the late eighties heading for Tennessee I saw about a dozen or so people in the mountains dressed in hooded robes around a large fire chanting strange things. I nearly lost control of my car. They were not good people.
Between the two episodes I am terrified of the woods at night. Terrified.

Well, there are no such hazards in Lebanon's forests. Some foxes, at worst. Large animals are long gone in inhabited regions. Until last summer, I used to enjoy taking long night strolls in the pine forest around my house.
The reason I don't do it anymore is that nowadays, there are human hazards. Too many people are edgy and prompt to suspicion all around the country right now. :-P

And here I thought all those american scary movies were overdoing it!
Is there any peaceful place left, I wonder? I'm considering the following list:
    Canada
    Switzerland
    Australia
    Outer Mongolia
    Antarctica
    Mars
    The Magellan galactic cluster

In December, a famous lebanese astrologist "predicted" that after the "hell" of 2006, the year 2007 "would see for the Lebanese purgatory, and then heaven".
Well, that's not very comforting! Considering the most probable way to end up in heaven this year is by a premature departure... :-P
    Just making local humour again.

P.S.: Monsieur Beep, are you by any chance related to famous sprinter Beep "Roadrunner" Beep? Je pose juste la question, n'est-ce pas?

  12. Unfortunately, Dr Pascal, I must say that there are human hazards around in our little ancient town as well, especially on binging day, which is every Friday night, when they're coming out of the pubs, mainly youths, shouting and smashing glasses and beer bottles. They sometimes attack innocent people, there have been several casualties already, and I wouldn't dare going out alone through the pedestrian precinct.
It's a shame, not even CCTV has been installed up to now.

And Terry: I understand your feelings.

    Hey Pascal, woody's mon frère!

    Beep Beep whooooooosh ;-))
    (nice to have you back)

    Translation: "I'm just asking, right?"
Anyone named "Monsieur" has to understand le language du love. Of course, "Son of Ma" sounds less european, so you're quite excused for asking.
And as they say in your country: "Pardon mah French!" :-)

He's still getting his every [bleep!]ing word censored by the producers, it seems?

    P.S.: Alley Pussy, I believe at 35 I'm not really a child anymore. :-)
Of course, if you're 60 you may feel otherwise about youngsters like me? ;-)

    dear pascal,
yes good will towards men is great, but sadly i don't see it much my friend. you may have the good will towards men but others need to follow it to have harmony as well. please keep showing them :)
