People's camera choices remind me of what happens with Mercedes S class cars. Obviously there are people who buy them because they are a beautiful piece of engineering, but I expect most buy them because it says look at me, how much money have I got, I've got a car that is worth as much or more than your house.
Someone I know who has a full frame Canon (his justification is that he uses cropped A3 prints for photo competitions) says that to get sharp pixels it always needs to be on a tripod.
