Gates sees it from the other side...

Gates spends entire first day back in office trying to install windows 8.1, article.
After failing to install the upgrade by lunchtime, Mr. Gates summoned the new Microsoft C.E.O. Satya Nadella, who attempted to help him with the installation, but with no success.
While the two men worked behind closed doors, one source described the situation as “tense.”
“Bill is usually a pretty calm guy, so it was weird to hear some of that language coming out of his mouth,” the source said.

I feel like saying to Gates what he himself used to say to people who said Windows was giving them problems: "Maybe you're doing something wrong. Have you thought of that?"
I read that almost 20 years ago, but it stuck with me due to the immense arrogance of the man.

One might hope he now will learn more respect for the customers, but I suspect he will find another way of shucking off responsibility for this too.

(By the way, it seems to me that this is about the third time in a decade or so that we are told that Bill Gates are Stepping Down. I'm confused.)

If the Internet has no fences or walls
who needs Gates or Windows?

When you've accomplished what he has, you're entitled to be arrogant. It's only a bad thing when unearned.

  2. I think Mr. Satya Nadella was instrumental in developing Windows 8 and 8.1, so I ask, how long do you think he will have his job?

I hear that the "new" google computers (Chrome OS) are plagued with even worse problems and if you think Bill Gates is arrogant try the Google Triplets (Brin, Page, Schmidt) their idiot arrogance like Elon Musk's knows no bounds.

At least with Steve Jobs you knew he was arrogant and nobody made excuses, lies, and outright spins and distortions like the Brin and Page are famous for.

I also don't think Bill Gates has really ever stepped down.

  3. Uh, you do know that the New Yorker article was satire?

  4. Yep, it's satire. Anything in the New Yorker that says "Borowitz Report" is made up, 100 percent fake, like The Onion.

As far as stepping down, this announcement is that he is returning to a more active day to day role at Microsoft. He is leaving the board of directors in order to join the rank and file as a part time worker, moving from a 1 day a week job to a three days a week job.
