Design Museum is a free iPad app from, well, Design Museum (London), and it's pretty cool. It has a nice selection of interesting designs (and not just products), and it has pictures in good size, pretty well informative, and even videos about the items (some more interesting than others).
Most of that stuff is a little too precious. I can only assume these days a lot of it is designed by and sold to gays.
