Finally! The books from one of the best art/illustration/drawing teachers of the 20th century,
Andrew Loomis, are back in print again! Huzzah!
Creative Illustration
Drawing the Head and Hands
Figure Drawing for all it's Worth
Fun With A Pencil
Successful Drawing (aka 3-Dimensional Drawing)
It seems that so far,
The Eye of the Painter is left out, only available used at very high prices (like I bought them all).
Too bad it's all stuff you can figure out on your own.
ReplyDeleteYes, Loomis's are the best I've ever encountered. Clear, concise, straightforward; actually instructional, not about ART, but the actual craft of being a draftsperson.
ReplyDeleteA great thought, Eolake,
ReplyDeleteDrawing is a missing skill for most photographers, in fact everyone should have some drawing tuition of some sort its one of the best and most useful skills to learn. Andrew Loomis is good I would also add Drawing on the right side of the brain by Betty Edwards

ReplyDeleteAnd useless, to anyone willing and able to put the time in.

ReplyDeleteAnyone who would buy those books is probably hopeless.
