You may have noticed Blogger's "word verifications" (captchas, the contorted words you have to read but can't) have gotten worse. Some even give up.
So I am trying turning it off. If I get too much spam, I'll turn them back on, but let's hope.
(Surely Google must be aware that everybody hates these things, because they've become unreadable??)
Update:
A half day later; first downside noted: a dozen extra spam comments. Fortunately they are usually filtered out on the site, but unfortunately, they still invade my email and have to be sorted through.

ReplyDeleteHere's a conspiracy theory for you: Google doesn't actually want people to comment on blogger because they want to drive everyone to Google+.
Think about it. Blogger hasn't gotten any significant new features in years. The CAPTCHAs didn't become difficult all of a sudden; they have become worse gradually. And now they are so difficult that people are actually giving up.
The really bad ones just make me guess- and it usually works. Which makes me suspect I am either a very good guesser, or you don't have to be 100% accurate when you type them in. I tend to believe it's the latter.
ReplyDeleteI have not commented several times just because it became too damn difficult.
ReplyDeleteKent, you must be a great guesser, because computers, except when programmed painstakingly for it, never allows the tiniest mistake.
ReplyDeleteEven Kent's bound to be good at something.
ReplyDeleteI do like that it is turned off. :)
