  1. The FAA and the airlines will allow iPads etc, just as soon as they work out a way to make passengers pay extra for the privilege.

  2. I was disappointed when I traveled last summer, I had a lot of US domestic flights, and spent about 8 hours when I could not use my kindle (take off, final approach, taxiing etc). Normally I travel with paper books, but this time I was being "smart" and relying on a small electronic library instead.

    To compound this, eInk technology can maintain a screen without active electronics, but instead of leaving my book "open" at the current page it went to the screen saver image/jacket.
