Running to, not just away

Don't simply retire from something; have something to retire to.

I think those are wise words. A great number of people, especially men for some reason (I think women are better at socializing), just go to seed after retiring without any interests to go to. Many of them simply die after a couple of years.

Fellow Blogger bloggers: how do you like the new posting/management interface? It's really dramatically different, innit?

  1. Totally correct! I'm retired nearly 11 years, retired to two hobbies plus couple regular social events weekly, plenty of family activities and we travel somewhat ... fill in the gaps with being a pallbearer to people who retired to nothing, the TV or simply reading ... no activities.

  2. Retirement? Thanks to Wall Street, and the bankers, I don't think I will retire.

I like the new Blogger interface so far; it seems enough "cleaner" as to reward the learning curve, but time will tell.

  3. Well, I thought I had it 'sussed' ... with a little hard work and a lot of luck I was officially able to retire at the ripe old ago of 50, after working for myself since the mid 80's.

So much for 'Plan A' ... it had worked: I could now spend life doing (on simply NOT doing) what I wanted, when I wanted, which would include travel, a LOT of fishing and a little photography (on MY terms! :-) ) ... and enough time to digest properly the propaganda we are fed on a daily basis before deciding which bits of it to believe!

18 months later, and I had a bouncing little boy in my arms ... I'm a dad again:-)

PLENTY of activity, absolutely no regrets whatsoever, and so far, 'Plan A' is still holding water, with the added insurance that I'll now ALWAYS have an excuse to go fishin' :-)

    Me, content?
    Nahhh :-)
