Hackers and coffee

Linus Thorvalds seem to have a sizeable cappucino habit.

  1. Hmmm ... a very conservative estimate puts mine at more than double that entire figure over the last eight years. Hell, at one stage, maybe 12 years ago, I was hitting that level of intake well before noon ........ and that was 'proper' coffee, not instant :-)
Sometimes I HATE the fact that I find maths so simple :-)

  2. Ah yes, so did I. But this is *cappuccino*, harder to make, and usually stronger than filter coffee.

I wonder if there is a coffee hierarchy, sort of like that "Geek Hierarchy" chart I remember seeing. Cappuccino drinkers rank above the "proper coffee" drinkers Philocalist talks about, who rank about drinkers of instant coffee. Of course it goes without saying that drinkers of decaf either rank at the bottom or don't rank at all.

Although my consumption wasn't anywhere near your level I still decided to give it up a while back because I was starting to depend on it too much.

  4. "above drinkers of instant coffee"

Why can't we edit our posts? It's really annoying sometimes.

  5. I don't know, it's Blogger.

I see that Linus takes double-shots, so I guess that makes my intake ten years ago about equal to his, rather than double.
But I do know a woman who used to drink twenty *mugs* of coffee every day.

  6. I looked up that cappuccino machine Linus has. Quite an expensive and cool-looking piece of hardware. I'm trying to cut back, though, so I don't think I'll get one.

  7. In the comments someone asked him. He said it's a Jura-Capresso S9. An expensive model, but I guess if a person is serious about their coffee it's best to go top of the line. Or at least it was top of the line when he got it.
