I would not waste my life in friction when it could be turned into momentum.
-- Frances Willard
This relates nicely to a thought in a P Graham article I linked to recently. About how most conflicts are not just unpleasant and unnecessary, but also occupies your thoughts to an unhealthy degree, robbing you of productive thoughts.
Conflict is seductive, it draws you in. But with time and discipline, one can go beyond it.

Conflict is caused when someone refuses to hear another out. There is NOTHING "seductive" about conflict; it's a form of CONTROL!
TC Gurl, maybe, but conflict can also lead to resolution; in that some need a push, conflict, to understand the need for resoulution, thus leading to resolution.
ReplyDeleteFor many years now, when presented with a "challenge", I have routinely stated the this was going on a "back burner" simmering was required, knowing that at some point, shower, bike ride, walking the dog, the solution would present itself. Zen, and the art of thinking; sometimes you have to let go for the real thinking to commence.
People with real jobs don't have that luxury, Bron. I wonder what challenges you could have faced in making your little picture frames.
