Speaking of the black-and-white world, if you haven't seen the movie Pleasantville, you might want to check it out. It shows how color came into the world, and it makes effective use of the great Etta James song, "At Last."
I saw it once and liked it, but you can't deny the cheese factor is quite high. It's very preachy. The message is good, though, I guess - for people who believe that the world of Ozzie & Harriet ever existed. I suspect that teenagers were fucking just as much back then in the real 1950s as today. Not bad for a pretty gimmicky movie. Speaking of gimmicks, I saw a trailer the other day for another M. Night Shyamalan movie. I thought his career was finally dead afer his last flop.
These have obviously been Photoshopped. Everybody knows the world really was black-and-white back then.

ReplyDeleteA word of caution to anyone considering seeing that movie: Have a barf bag or twelve handy.
ReplyDeleteI really liked Pleasantville.
ReplyDeleteI think it was the first movie I ever bought on DVD.

ReplyDeleteYeah, that's my expert opinion, Robb.
