The Yike Bike. Motorized.Looks cool. It's only ten kilos. And it folds.
Interestingly, it's only because it's motorized rather than pedaled that it was possible to make it fold into such a small package.
I'd love to get one. I wonder though where it's legal to ride it, since it surely is missing some requirements for bikes, like lights and so on.

ReplyDeleteI can't help but comment:
Clip a flashing red light to your butt and use a headband light for the front. Don't fall off when signaling tho. I assume it has brakes or some way to stop.
Oops, I just looked at the website and the lights are in the handle bars.
ReplyDeleteMy guts, based solely on the looks of the contraption, tell me that this is not for you or I, unfortunately. Can't be sure, but I doubt that frame would endure much in real life situations...
ReplyDeleteThe imposed posture while riding the device doesn't inspire much confidence either. Not being able to lean on handlebars along with no backrest must be quickly tiring. Unless you enjoy playing equilibrist, of course.
Yeah, you might be onto something.
ReplyDeleteThis posture reminds me ... about 50 years ago I had the idea to ride my bicycle (a standard one) backwards:
ReplyDeleteSitting on the handlebar, looking over my shoulder left or right to see where I was heading.
It took some time to learn it in that way, because the body movements for balancing had all to be reversed. (And once learned, it's never unlearned - sometimes I do it still today.)
Just for fun. And it was fun :-) And the posture was quite o.k., even for longer rides - the most uncomfortable was the looking over the shoulder.
For me it would be comfortable to ride the bicycle shown here.
Find Mike's bike? Like, yikes!
ReplyDelete"Yeah, you might be onto something."
Surely that something isn't a Yike bike! :-)
Neeraj,
Ever thought of working at a Chinese circus as a summer job? ;-)
