Don't disturb the wildlife

  1. Photographers from an earlier generation will remember Eric Hosking (1909-1991) an early pioneer of flash photography, who lost an eye in a Tawny owl attack in 1937. He later entitled his biography 'An Eye for a Bird'. Many of his pictures remain best in class.

The good news is that the remake of The Birds has stalled again. The source, a Daphne du Maurier novella, is much a better take on the metaphor if my memory serves me well.

  2. I can believe it. The whole thing works much better as a metaphor than any kind of believable thriller. Like Kafka's The Metamorphosis.

  3. That is a trained bird in the photograph (note the leather leash on its leg). Makes me wonder if this wasn't staged...

  4. Good eye there.

    (I don't think you'd stage this, though.)

  5. I'm thinking what might have happened is they wanted a shot of the eagle coming straight at the camera...and the eagle got a little carried away :-)
