Make The Girl Dance: Baby Baby Baby

[Thanks to Joe R.]
Three bare chicks in a Paris street, music video. (I don't know if the girls are the band.)
These chicks will go places, ya hear.
Dang censorship strips, they are offensive to me. :-)

Update thanks to Aniko: lyrics here.

Interesting how the video picture is mirrored (laterally reversed), I think it's to obscure the text in the signs on the street, to avoid distraction (as if), and possibly copyright offense or whatever. (A comment on youtube sez it is so certain tv stations can show it without advertising for anything.)

It just occurs to me: probably the girls wore patches on nipples and pubic areas. They would be covered by the blackout strips anyway, and your imagination helps out.

  1. Remember the old sing along text with the bouncing ball.

    This is much better.

    Wish my French was better;-)

  3. Oh, there were words?

I only got curious after I noticed the word "iPod" zip by, over the boobs.

  4. !@#$%^ censorship indeed!

Says at the end the whole take was done at once, hand-held (yet certainly w/ a steadycam), no cheating.

From that, I would guess that the reversed image simply comes from a mirror in the setup. Hand-held means no dolly, yet there is no way anyone could have walked such a distance keeping that pace while walking backwards. The camera operator was thus facing forward, with the camera looking sideways and using a mirror to finally look back (the angle is too low for over-the-shoulder shooting).

Mind you, I probably would have never noticed that the image was reversed if you hadn't mentioned it. The video is nice, but to warrant such scrutiny (and distraction from the models)? Anyway, it's not impossible that the people who produced it never thought of flipping the image back (they didn't notice either before the clip was released).

  5. It's normal to flip it, for the no-advertising reasons.

A good steadycam user with a guy guiding him could walk backwards. Or he could be pulled on a little trolley.

I know, Bert; I was pretty impressed that Eo noticed that, too! Even *I* wouldn't have noticed and...I'm straight! ;-)

(I think I was more concentrating on trying to IMAGINE what that would be like...walking by grandma's having lunch sitting on the sidewalk! lol!)

  8. Following the link YouTube says:

Dieses Video ist aufgrund von Urheberrechts-beschränkungen in deinem Land nicht verfügbar.

    Translated:
"This video is not available in your country due to copyright restrictions."

  12. Neraj, try googling the title, it may be available on other servers.

  13. Thanks for the tip, it worked.

(I became aware that I've seen it already some months ago.)

These black strips are really annoying. IMO too artificial, destroying a lot of natural atmosphere ...

  14. Neeraj,
Can you download it from here?

Because overe here, I often encounter the same problem.

  15. @ Pascal
Thanks again ... I have it already downloaded and looked at it, I don't know anymore from where.

Oh, and by the way, these black strips ... ;-(

... I often encounter the same problem.

    Censorship, or simply technical reasons?

  16. I often get a video that's "not available in your country for copyright reasons" as well. That's why I was wondering, specifically, if keepvid.com allows you to download the movie from the link that was unaccessible to you, whether this site is able to circumvent this obstacle.
That's what interests me, the point of my question to you.
I had, of course, already read the thread and knew you had the film from elsewhere. :-)

  17. About these @#$%& censorship bars:
Fantasies from a clothes-free future where prudishness is an oddity for museums.
"Meanwhile, in the Future"... good one! (^_^)

Sorry for misunderstanding ... now I have tried keepvid.com => no, it didn't work for me with the link in question :-(

"Meanwhile, in the Future"... good one!

    Yes ;-)

BTW, since I have no Google account, I don't see a possibility to get an alert message, when somebody is answering to one of my postings - I have to look myself actively. So it may happen, that I'm missing sometimes something, but that's not ill will ...

  19. "no, it didn't work for me with the link in question :-("
    Aw, fudge. ):-(

"So it may happen, that I'm missing sometimes something, but that's not ill will ..."
As long as it's not sick leave either, that's okay. :-)

You should know that getting a Blogger account is VERY simple. Made my own daily blogging way more convenient.
I've used a Yahoo! address to sign in (don't have Gmail), and wasn't kicked out by a large bouncer for "bein' in business wid' da competition".

I'm guessing the bars are part of the original clip, destined to display the words.
In some old movies in Lebanon, such bars were used to make the subtitles easier to read over a bright background.

  20. Re: "It just occurs to me: probably the girls wore patches on nipples and pubic areas. They would be covered by the blackout strips anyway, and your imagination helps out." If they did cover anything the patches were minimal and almost invisible to the people on the street. You can see at times that there are no straps around the back, so at most pasties were used, and there is nothing visible on the hips. This must have been quite a sight! Somewhere there is an original copy without the black bands, that would be great to see!

  21. Wouldn't suck.

But yes, by "patches" I meant pasties. Like they use on nipples and crotch in movies and on TV when you can see almost everything.
