Just Like U Said It Would B ~ Sinead O'Connor

One of my old favorites. One of those I listened to on my walkman, walking around Copenhagen at four in the morning in the late eighties, my mind scraping the ceiling of the universe.

The version I like the most is the album version:

I will walk in the garden
And feel religion within
I will learn how to run
with the big boys
I will learn how to sink and to swim
And there's talk in the houses
And people dancing in rings
Ah, when you close my eyes, babe?
I can see most everything
I can see most everything

It's just like u said it would be

I can see too many mouths open
Too many eyes closed, ears closed
Not enough minds open
Too many legs open
Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, do
Why isn’t it why why
I don't see why I listen, why, why

When I've walked in the garden
When I'm walking off stage
When everything's quiet
Will you stay?
Will you be my lover?
Will you be my mama?
I said will you be my lover?
I said will you be my babe?
When I lay down my head
At the end of my day

Nothing would
Nothing would please me better
Than I find that you're there
When I lay down my head
At the end of my day
Nothing would
Nothing would please me better
Than I find that you're
there when I wake

Just like u said it would be

Will you be my lover?
Will you be my mama?

Just like u said it would be

  3. And...there ends that mawwiage! Wow! SMART gurl! More of us could learn from these crazy marriages: as SOON as you both discover that it's not gonna work out, and you really have tried to talk through all the differences and sought help, it's time to end it and MOVE ON!!!!! It's sad but...hopefully, it didn't end their friendship. I thought she had some very nice things to say about her hubbers...which, often, seems rare...at this particular point in the game.

  6. Thank you.
It is nice to see that she is able to move out of that martyr/rebel image she has worn for so long now.

  7. You're welcome...and I agree...so sad that she has kept herself, like that, for so long...especially knowing, now, from this article, why she appeared this way, it almost seems like spite and, really, who did it hurt? Surely, not the music industry; they've done fine by her, and vice versa... I think that she's really beautiful w/her hair [grown out?]...and I'm really glad to see her showing her feminine side, again...

  8. (I imagine it's a wig.)

I agree very much. Many people, not the least artists, confuse spite with independency.

For example, Sinead wrote a famous letter to Miley Cyrus, where she just assumed that the nudity was the desire of the record company, not Miley's own.

By the way, I wonder if part of why Sinead now shows a pretty side is due to the way she was shown in South Park (re the above) as a dumpy middle-aged housewife. :-)

  9. Oh, by the way, apparently those suicide tweets back then were fake. Nasty trick to play.

Perhaps... That would be the quickest "switch over." :-D

I've never thought about it, before this; this seems to be the first instance where I have actually "heard" a person admit this...which is, in and of itself, quite a bold move, for her... I hope she will be a good model for many others to change their "stance" for whatever their "rebellious cause" might be...

For example, Sinead wrote a famous letter to Miley Cyrus, where she just assumed that the nudity was the desire of the record company, not Miley's own.

You know what they say about ASSuming! ;-) And, yes...she sounds like she was very "militant" about her stance... It feels like something really sexually inappropriate might have happened to her, as well...which I could full well understand her wanting to stand up against...but how to, when you want to protect yourself from the "monster" that is the music industry; they could have ruined her blooming career, had she tried to stand, directly, up to them!! All that sexist shit!! :-P

By the way, I wonder if part of why Sinead now shows a pretty side is due to the way she was shown in South Park (re the above) as a dumpy middle-aged housewife. :-)

Not sure... I know how she would feel, though; made a decision, a couple of weeks back, to change that...and have lost 10lbs, so far; should be done, first week of July, if all goes well... :-D
