  1. I've been reading your blog for a while now. One thing I can't quite figure out: how do you pronounce your name? e-o-lake, yo-lake or some other way? Anyway, I always know you'll dig up some interesting things to check out on the web. Thanks.

  2. Thank you very much.

    Eee-(o)-lake, accent on E.

  4. Of course those definitions make it funny.
(And it is pun on the "hope" Obama poster.)

I"m surprised the slang definition was not included in what you found.
    From urbandictionary.com:

    dope
    1. adj. cool, nice, awesome

  5. The first dope I heard of was when my dad made a balsa wood airplane and was doping the wings. I guess that was 6, back when I was about 7 or 8.

After that it would be 1c, though I don't remember being told Mary Jane specifically. That would be around 10.

Then of course race horse doping soon after.

I must have become aware of 3 and 4 through watching 30's and 40's movies. "Oh you dope", "Hes a dope" and "dish the dope".

And of course we all know snow white and the eight dwarfs, Snow White wasn't so white, and Dopey wasn't so dopey.

Never heard cool or awesome, you just made that up and added it to urban dictionary...

  6. I did not, cross my nipples and hope to cry.

I'm often amazed when I know American slang that Americans don't. (OK, you're not one, but at least you live there.)

  7. Exposure to popular culture (TV) will educate you to new saying and phrases. I'm working on older movies and catching up from living in a hole for 10 years.

Lol! Me, too, because...I'm almost *certain* you would cry...just trying to accomplish such a feat! lmao! Not getting out to take a walk, might get you *there* eventually, though! lol! ;-)

In your defense, Eo...I have heard the comment, before. (ironically, my nick name is *Spud* too but...this was not my entry! lol!) So...just know that you're a *happenin'* and *Dope* Dude, and...don't let anyone else (Alex! ;-) try to tell you otherwise! ;-)
