Late light
Alex has been out in the late light. More pictures. (Picasa has an excellent feature: the picture will automatically fit to the size of your browser window, even as it's sitting on a page.) Blog post about the ship.
Yeah, that damned bird was in a most excellent pose. No wonder he looked so relaxed, the jetty was condemned, and fenced off. I'm still restricted by a 18-55 lens, and so I went for several embracing vistas.
The bird shot (photo of bird, not lead pellets) was in a morning trip to San Leandro Marina. I was practicing with +/-1 stop bracketing. Seems my camera's auto exposure is pretty good, and a -.3 to -1 stop correction will bring out clouds. Couple that with d-lighting and I can retire my neutral density gradual filter.
