LEGO Death Star

Isn't it amazing how immortal the Star Wars universe is? OK, the hardcore fans may be considered geeks by some, but that's just ungracious, donchaknow.

  1. Say no more. I especially like the classic, Mosaic look (gray backround, etc.) of the website.

  2. "I finished off the bottom of the Death Star by 11:30am, when I went off to grab some quick lunch."

    I like the guy's attitude.

  3. Yep, the site really has that timeless 1994 style.

  4. Of course, it's to be preferred to the "timely" 2008 flash style, in many cases.

  5. I still think Chris Doyle is a "bigger geek". His Firefly is excellent.

I would rather get the mini-fig scale Millennium Falcon over the collectors edition Death Star. Lego now even make toys based on the Star Wars video game content! Should be interesting to see if they get Clone Wars tie in toys.

  7. And now for some series dedication: A model of Paris in the backyard. It only took 15 years to make.

  8. TTL,

Surely you don't read the Sun do you? Or were you just there for Page 3? ;-)

  9. Heh ... actually no (honestly). I followed a link from ... hmm I forgot ... may have been BoingBoing.

Do they have a Page 3 on the online version also? I must start reading the Sun ;-)

  10. I didn't follow the link to "page 3 TV" neither did I watch the show about naked gardening. Besides, they kept their panties and wellies on.

TTL, I didn't realize you came from the place where page 3 meant meaningful winks exchanged between 10 year olds. Are you in Blighty, or somewhere else with nudies in the early pages of the daily rag?

  11. "Are you in Blighty, or somewhere else with nudies in the early pages of the daily rag?"

No, I'm just familiar with the concept. In the 1980s, it was constantly repeated that Samantha Fox was a "page 3 girl". I'm sure that's how many people outside "Blighty" became aware of "Page 3" and The Sun.

I don't recall ever actually thumbing through the rag during my visits to Britain.

Many European newspapers have had a similar feature, just not on page 3 and not with such a well known meme.

Quite a brilliant viral marketing concept from The Sun.

In French, meme means granny. Now, re-read your post... ;-)

  13. Ah, 1983, Sam Fox, Linda Lusardi. Those were days.

Holy crap table. LL is now in Emmerdale (formerly Emmerdale Farm, a pastoral soap of the 70's "Nay Mr Wilkes"). Emmerdale is a classic piece of Phil Redmond sexy TV. (c.f. Grange Hill, Brookside, Hollyoaks (yes a Chester based soap!))

  14. And who would have guessed that Samantha Fox was a lesbian? It's a strange world.

  15. And Mike Meyers is apparently gay. Wouldn't have guessed that either.

  16. ... I'd rather get mental pictures of the Fox thingy, if you don't mind...

  17. Ambiguity resolution required. We are talking about the UK Sam Fox, who would be 40ish now, and was a page 3 girl at 16 and a singer by 18. Not the one who would be about 60 and was apparently a 70's US porn star.
