Secret underground temple built by private enthusiasts in Italy, over 20 years.

  1. This image makes me go a big rubbery one.
(Phrase used on assumption that Joe Dick's permission is being granted).

  2. What does a "big rubbery one" mean?
Underground temples? Some kingdoms have many including mine where private entertainment is provided :)

  3. Well, sire, it seems that a "big rubbery one" is the best sign that a man is ready for the private entertainment awaiting in thy underground temples...

For a place that wasn't driven by religious fervour, this temple in the photo is pretty amazing handywork. "Enthusiasts" indeed! I agree with Monsieur Beep: it makes me go "enthusiastic" too. :-)
One can just imagine the, um, "rituals" starting!

  4. Actually, this single photo can not convey the magnificence of the place. It is nine temples, on five levels, a total of 300,000 cubic feet, and hundreds of meters of tunnels.

Walls, floors and ceilings decorated with detailed murals, mosaics, statues, secret doors and stained glass windows.

It's a project of a 57-year-old former insurance broker. Created in secrecy during 1977-1992.

    Here's another photo.

  5. I don't think I originated that, so my permission isn't necessary. :)

  6. No, wasn't it one of the Hive Mind who said it first, here anyway?

  7. To King Zod:
    I quote from "urbandictionary.com":
This term is a combination of two concepts. The first is the wanking motion that people make when something is over the top (a more explicit version of rolling one's eyes). The second is a physiological phenomenon that occurs when a male wanks off too fast, and the result is thick, and somewhat rubbery. The latter phenomenon implies that the response to the over-the-top nature of the person eliciting the response is very powerful.

I must admit, I only had a vague idea of the meaning before I googled the phrase and found this more precise definition.

  8. Aha!
I was sure it referred to a semi-erection, but I was confused about the verb "go", it should have been "grow" or "get". With this other definition it makes more sense.

  9. One more topic-related comment:
The chinese terracotta army is really fascinating, too. Unbelievable, how the artists baked human features with such a subtlety and precision out of the earth (terracotta, ital. "baked earth", Wikipedia), and thus by the thousands!

Somehow "go" works better for me, too. Maybe the one who originated it here simply misheard it, but to me "go a big rubbery one" is...shall we say, more evocative.

Interesting bit of trivia: Rumour is that John C. Holmes' drug problem was so bad he wasn't actually fully hard in a lot of his movies, and did the whole thing with just a semi-erect rubbery one!
