they still fantasize about life on other planets lol. guess hollywood isn't the only dreamers...... maybe we should send them a billion dollar probe that will land on their planet written in english of course explaining who we are and then make plans to meet somewhere inbetween and have a few drinks and talk it over lol. please, spend the money on the poor and needy who need it on the ONLY life-containing planet in the universe. but that would be too logical for the NASA program and the politicians.
"the ONLY life-containing planet in the universe"?
That remains unconfirmed, but you're right about one thing: it's the only known and available one so far. The pursuit of knowledge is great. Ensuring we are still there in 50 years to gaze at the stars might well be more urgent...
Still, all of Knowledge is somehow interconnected. Many NASA innovations changed our daily life. Starting with satellites informing us about the state of our planet and the urgency to preserve it today. So, in a way, I guess NASA isn't a mere waste of resources. Sometimes.
There might very well BE life on other planets. Intelligent life, that's another matter. It's still unsure whether there is intelligent life ON EARTH.
"For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much - the wheel, New York, wars and so on - whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man - for precisely the same reasons." -- (Douglas Adams)
