Gaffigan

Gaffigan, upstanding comedian. Not my favorite, but pretty good. I posted this because one thing rang true for me: he talks about how New Yorkers will demand directions rather than ask them.
Many years ago, in Copenhagen, my way was suddenly blocked by a big, wide American man in shorts and a colorful shirt, and a camera on his belly, who said to me in a very forceful voice, without a "hello", "excuse me", or any other preample: "Where's the lakes?!"
He was not being aggressive, it was just that he had no regard for other people's space. Probably not even an idea of it.
It was very weird, it took me a couple moments to figure out even what was going on.

And as Jim explains in the clip, in those moments you were wasting his time, not the other way around. :-)))

His take on buying bottled water was pretty funny too.

  2. You know Eolake, many Americans are like this. Sadly we have become a nation of fat and arrogant brats filled full of selfishness and greed.
Even in our restaurants especially drive throughs, the kids just throw the food at you and never thank you or smile or anything.
It's sad but true. It isn't like the seventies when I was a teenager. I miss those times........

  3. Totally boring subject, mister Dane. Trash it.
I'm more interested in this crucial painful mystery: why does the rest of the world hate us???
    :-(

  5. Sometimes the best you can do is to be as polite as you can and hope someone realizes that not all Americans are jerks. I was in Victoria the other day and went in to exchange US for Canadian. I asked what the exchange rate was for dollars and got asked, "Dollars from what country?" I felt like the ugly American at that time.

Who was I to assume that everyone used US dollars???

They should have known better. Not your fault. And no, not all Americans are jerks. There are jerks in every corner of the world. (We just rate in the top ten.)
I still love my country (always will) except if they ever turn their backs on Israel) then we will fall quicker than a shooting star.
Even if I die today I'm still glad I was blessed to be born an American. (Though we are not perpect.) We have more than any other nation in the world.
Also I appreciate all I receive from my Lord Jesus.

In addition to all their other virtues Americans are great numismatics too. :-)))

Believe me, mister show-off, the competition from Lebanon is very apt, I'll have you know. (Hocks a loogie in the street, cuts off the square of asphalt and sells the result in a frame as improvised art.) So don't give youself too much credit. :-/
You Americans, always thinking you're at the top of the world.
Well, we can do worse, so there! ;-)

Incidentally, the USA doesn't have the monopole on holiness either. In my country, we have holy roads, holy streets and buildings, holy cars, holy politics, holy law and justice, holy State budget... Really, there are holes everywhere!
You want to buy a hole, make sure you ask for our most excellent local production.

Numismatics: the science and collecting of currency.
TTL meant that you Americans have all the qualities, but you're too modest to realize it. ;o)
