...But by the eighties I had cut way ahead of the pack. I don't think many of my original class mates were into Siouxsie and the Banshees.
I came to think of them now because of my neighbor and friend Christine. I always want to add "
the strawberry girl" to her name.
Siouxsie and friends are/were Iggy Pop fans. Here they cover his song
The Passenger.
And like Iggy, Siouxsie had big influence on bands that would become much more popular than themselves. Ever the fate of the avant-gardist.
A bit of nice dancing in
Hong Kong Garden.
I believe that weirdo hairdo in the picture is a sure sign that you, my child, are a Goth.
ReplyDeleteNow tell me, do you also feel an interest in nudity, philosophy, Buddhism, or photography? I need four more items before I can deliver you your bus ticket for the Eternal Flames. (Bus #6, road 66, Cerberus model, the one with a red trident painted on the sides, a pair of horns, and a pentacle-shaped hood ornament.)
"Hmm... Gummi bears and strawberry girls!" -- (Homer, Homer Simpson)
She was also wont to wear "S/M gear" on stage. I'm sure that to the hardcore bible thumber she was a Hopelessly Lost Child.
ReplyDeleteI like Lost Children. They're my friends. I take them to my private secret resort in Never-Neverland, and we play boys games.
ReplyDeleteCOCKADOODLEDOO! Here's froth on your face, Captain Codfish, catch me if you can! Ha ha ha!
Hey, I know! Why don't we go looking for Siouxie and Tiger Lily and pull their hair braids?
Bible thumpers? Oh, what do bible thumpers know? Can they nawt see I am lost in a smog od melancholia and despair?
ReplyDeleteI have been lost ever since I was thumped on me head with a heavy bible. Owh, what is a lost woman to do?
You could come live with us. We need a new maid... I mean, mommy at home!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that to the hardcore bible thumber she was a Hopelessly Lost Child.
ReplyDeleteOnly the Lord Jesus and her know whether or not she was born-again.
And your careless slang about "bible thumpers" demean truly born-again christians who care more about a person's soul than their appearance.
I didn't think you were like that Eolake. I feel offended.
I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteI know that most Christians, as those of other religions, are good and tolerant people. I was referring to a minority who constantly uses religion as an excuse to judge and condemn others, even on such slight things as appearance.
Now tell me, do you also feel an interest in nudity, philosophy or photography?
ReplyDeleteAs a christian I have an interest in nudity, philosophy and photography. It depends on a person's heart with God not with what they neccesarily have an interest in unless it's totally ungodly or satanic.

Thank you Eolake.

I understand you now and appreciate your explanation and your clarification. God bless you.
Well, I for one never mistook bible thumpers and mere religious Christians. No more than I mistake a Muslim and a terrorist, or a German and a nazi. There are communities, and alas there are extremists in all communities.
ReplyDeleteHeck, some extremist pacifists have been known to become violent! Go figgyer...
Oh Siouxsie...they were ahead of their time. To this day one of my favorite songs though is a cover they did of the Snake Song from the jungle book. Good stuff that.
ReplyDeleteI love that movie! Do you have a link for the song? Couldn't find it on Youtube.
ReplyDeleteThe new Snake song they made for the dancing Jungle Book videogame wasn't bad either.
"I am-in-the-mooooood...
To play with my food.
Now SLEEP!"
P.S.: Saradevil, it seems your profile pic went AWOL. I can't C-U. Should I call the MP to issue an APB or is it just MIA? RSVP ASAP.
Don't ask me, I didn't take no picture. I don't even own a camera.
ReplyDeleteThis is why they call me a sap. :(
This is why they call me a sap. :(
ReplyDeleteYou're no sap because you don't own a camara. You're still one of God's precious creations.......
Oh, I'm not sure... not owning a camera, that's a serious blight on a reputation right there...
