Bugatti Veyron

If the Ariel Atom seems crap to you because it does not have things like doors and a wind screen, you may consider the Bugatti Veyron. On the downside, it does cost sixty times as much as the Atom. On the upside it's a bit faster on the long stretches. (OK, it's faster than a formula one car.) And more importantly (for me) it is one dang gorgeous object. Maybe I can get one for half price if I don't need the engine?

(Don't worry, this won't become a car or technology blog, I've no doubt there are plenty of those. I just have a fondness for extraordinary products of any kind.)

  1. Oh boy, this one's a beauty. How cool would it be to do your Saturday afternoon shopping with a car that's faster than a Formula 1?

Maybe they'll give us a discount if we organise a group buy?

  2. I'd rather have a classic vette! That's a chick magnet!

  3. After Borat, the concept "chick magnet" has taken a completely new meaning.

I doubt that either of those cars has the magnet installed.

What I don't get, though, is this:

We are admiring a fine Italian car named Bugatti. Then comes a guy named Falconetti and starts pushing an American car.

  4. Me, for some reason, I've always had a special fondness for the classic Seventies Jaguar, with its round headlights. I'm not sure, but maybe it's because there's something feminine in that look. Curves, proportions and softness. With a temper of fire under the hood! :-)
Just the way I like my women: with nice curves and a character to match. (Puffs from big cigar. Cuban.)

You like extraordinary products? Here's one definitely not ordinary I just read about: the most expensive toilet seat not made of solid gold for eccentric billionaires.
To make sure your (ahem!) "private time" is a pleasant one, this seat comes equiped with a computer, a flat screen TV, a music player with loudspeakers, a videogame console, a refrigerator for beverages and snacks, and... an exercise bicycle! Seriously, it does. The "Pimped Out John"™ is made by american firm Roto-Rooter. Price tag: less than $6000.

Who needs a car or other crappy deals, eh? ;-)

  5. My faithful car is also softly curvy and very affectionate. Perhaps it is a Jaguar cab?

But I don't smoke. Nobody does in Toytown.

Nobody's pushing an American car. It just happens to be a major classic in the states where women go apeshit over them. No kidding.
I've had more babes ride in my jet-black corvette than any other I own (especially foreign toys lol)
    Chevrolet still rocks the world!

Me too! It's the first car I remember looking at and thinking "that's really beautiful".

Eolake, your random pointers to extraordinary products (of any kind) is one of the main reasons I read your blog. I have bought some products after discovering them here, or at least being reminded of them here.

And even when your pointers are not 'actionable' to me, they are fun to read about -- as long as they are extraordinary.

I do not posess any kind of car myself (don't need it when you live in the heart of a city), and have no interest in cars, per se. But if money was no objection, I would probably buy the Bugatti.

    Keep up the good work!

Here's a recent extraordinary product find of myself.

  9. I was once close to buying a used XJ6 in British Racing Green (the one true Jaguar colour).

The problem with old Jags, though, is that they are infamously fragile. You don't just buy a car, you take on a new hobby.

The headlights changed from round to square in 1986, if my memory serves. I hear the best pre-1986 Jags are ones imported to Europe from California. Supposedly the California weather has treated them well. Also, the steering wheel is on the left side (for us non-UK people).

  10. Has this car got one or two exhaust pipes at the rear?? If not, I'll start saving straight away. A wonderful car, yes, but is it innovative?
    Btw, I love driving.

  11. Looks like someone just crashed his Bugatti Veyron in Surrey, U.K.

I hope this wasn't you, Eolake!

According to the news only 300 Veyron cars have been built. Of those only about 12 reside in Britain.

  12. What a pity, that those who buy such dream cars usually are so "filthy rich", they don't even care about them. :-P
