"The bottom photograph of the sky in black and white is great. I'd like to use it as a screensaver if you don't mind eolake?"
Of course!
Seeing as there is a long range of different attitudes to copyright and such, I better make it clear: Except for commercial use, you can use my pictures any way you like. Print them, send them to friends, put them on your desktop, whatever. (If you put them on a site or blog, credit and a link is appreciated.)
It feels strange to me, that such is NOT the official and universal attitude. It seems as if those most touchy about it are also the most insecure, no matter how powerful they officially appear.
ReplyDeleteAs the arabian proverb says : "It is a nasty blow when the scared man strikes."
I'd like to support Eolake's sensible attitude. Here's an artwork of mine which you may use and distribute freely as long as it is not for commercial use, and provided you credit it by mentioning the original link:

Drawing by me. Colors by Xmung, webmaster of the site. All his webcomics are accessible for free, and they're real good!
Like with Domai, no porn there, but nudity advisory on every page. ;-)
Drawing by me. Pascal noted. "Well done my friend. I never knew you had such the talent! And eolake you will always get the credit with me for your fine photography. Thanks for letting me have permission to use it.
ReplyDeleteThanks again :)
Hey! Nice drawing, doctor!
ReplyDeleteOh, it was very amateuristic. I can do quite better now, if I take the time and make the effort. The colors really help improve it.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you'll get to see the rest of my old stuff some day, if I make a personal site. I intend to, but you'll have to be VERY patient. I face drastic technological limitations right now.
I live in a Third-World country, with a sluggish 26 Kbps dial-up connection. In addition to internet access ($22/month), I have to pay an hourly connection fee. And I cannot receive some of this blog's bigger images, so uploading similar files on a site of mine is out of the question for now.
The thing is, phone lines are a big source of profit for some people high up, so broadband internet has simply been outlawed by decree in Lebanon. I kid you not. Fortunately I don't use a cell phone, because this country has some of the highest telecom fees in the world! (Three guesses why.)
Things should change eventually. But probably not before a year at least... if we're lucky.
(When asked how long he would be hospitalized, comedian Rodney Dangerfield said, "If all goes well, about a week. If not, about an hour-and-a-half.")
