The transmission format used in in today's digital television is called <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG_transport_stream" rel="nofollow">MPEG transport <i>stream</i></a>.<br /><br />"TV" is the name of a medium. "Streaming" basically just means continuous flow of data (as opposed to storing or caching it, etc).<br /><br />Saying that "streaming replaces TV" is a ludicrous notion.
